Vision Festival 10 in 2005
Tenor saxophonist Fred Anderson, born on March 22, 1929, would have turned 88 today. Anderson was a founding member of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians, as well as the proprietor of the legendary Chicago South Side jazz club, the Velvet Lounge. He was a mentor to countless musicians including Hamid Drake, Nicole Mitchell, and George Lewis. He was honored with the Lifetime Achievement award at
