In this time when fascism is on the rise, Artists respond with Love, Outrage, and Inspiration to increasing intolerance to diversity & inclusion, the ever-growing dangers of climate change, and countless other Injustices threatening our Freedom every day. Every weekend, beginning Labor Day (Monday, September 5) through Indigenous Peoples Day (Monday, October 10), Arts for Art will present our growing community of musicians, dancers, and poets as part of the InGardens 2022 FREE outdoor concert series, themed JUSTICE FOR ALL. Performances will take place at the First Street Green Art Park and Children’s Magical Garden in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Admission is FREE and donations to Arts for Art are encouraged, as we continue to work to support the multi-disciplined and multi-generational art and artists of NYC. In October of 2001, one month after 9/11, Arts for Art held the 5-week series From the Ashes, as a response to the tragic events of that day. 21 years later, we find ourselves still reminding people of the power of art to heal, recover, and rebuild. This role is now more important than ever, and art’s role in fighting for peace and justice will never be done. The call for compassion and creativity will always be relevant. These musicians, dancers, and poets are calling us together in peace based on love as we all join to create a future of Peace, Equality, and Justice For All.
About Arts for Art
Founded in 1996, Arts For Art (AFA) is a New York City based tax-exempt organization dedicated to the promotion and advancement of FreeJazz - an American indigenous art form in which improvisation is principle. FreeJazz embodies music, dance, poetry, and visual arts. It is recognized for its variety of highly developed and personalized improvisational languages. AFA works not only to preserve the legacy of FreeJazz, but also to ensure a vital future through its re-imagination by new generations of artists. Spearheaded by the internationally renowned Vision Festival, AFA's programming brings together multiple generations of vibrant, diverse and highly skilled artists. To further our goals of diversity and accessibility, we foster education initiatives and produce events that build community amongst artists and audiences.
