Ken FilianoFor what this organization does for the art and human communities I am honored to be a member - and why I hope you may consider sending your support to Arts For Art as well, helping to further the continuance of their presence/presents. Jason Kao HwangArts for Art has been presenting a huge variety of music while advocating for social change for decades. Without question and by any measure, AFA has been the most impactful artist-led organization in the history of jazz. Without their support and inspirations over the years, I doubt if I would still be creating music. I hope you will join me in supporting Arts for Art by making a donation and/or attending their concerts. Thank you! Francisco Mora CatlettArts For Arts, the visionary New York City Arts Organization, serving our community with the top multicultural avant-garde Art forms. African American culture has always been about survival and freedom, with the powerful characteristic of liberating the human spirit … through years AFA has been always consistent with this basic principle, especially in these trying times. Support Art For Arts. Matthew ShippYes, Arts for Art is an organization that deserves all the funding it can get because of the needed and important function they serve in regards to a group of artists that might get ignored otherwise. But can I look at this from a selfish standpoint as a proud resident of Lower East Side Manhattan? This is one of the most important neighborhoods in jazz history. At some point almost everyone lived here — Bird, Mingus, etc, etc, etc. I see no other organization fostering the jazz legacy and energy of the Lower East Side like Arts for Art - with an emphasis on the energy, for we are looking ahead... This organization functions on so many levels. The music it fosters is so important on a world music stage but as far as the history of New York City this organization is vital, or maybe beyond vital. William ParkerArts for Art is an essential organization for the music and the musicians who play creative improvised music, especially for those who were forcibly brought and enslaved in America beginning in 1619. They/we created the AfroAmerican Creative Improvisational music. Arts for Art is the primary supporter of this music. Since its inception, AFA has been at the center of this creative scene presenting multiple art forms, including visual art, dance, and poetry. AFA has fed and nourished the entire New York arts community through its efforts. Fay VictorArts for Art is an incredible, life-giving organization that fosters deep community through the arts and the myriad programs AFA runs. It's a space that gives the artists within its orbit chances and opportunities to further develop and shine. I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to present many of my own projects through AFA, most recently ElectroFLUTTER at Vision Festival 25 in 2021. They deserve all the support we can give them and then some. Give what you can! Andrea WolperArts for Art matters. Its very existence makes a tangible difference in this increasingly digitized, homogenized world. I'm proud to be part of this community of artists and art lovers who cherish creativity and innovation, while always honoring our varied and collective roots. Any day is a great day to make a donation that will help AFA do its meaningful work. Luciano RossettiI'm really glad to give my contribution to AFA because it is an important reality and I endorse the idea of life that give strength to this big family. James Brandon LewisArts for Art is an organization that walks the walk, and not just talk, placing importance and giving voice to African American Artists whose approaches to music stretch beyond traditional and popular forms. I have benefited tremendously from the sheer care of an organization who gives space for my voice as an artist. Ingrid LaubrockAs an AFA Vision Artist, I celebrate that AFA has been creating opportunities for artistic collaboration for more than 25 years! Patrick HolmesI not only support Arts for Art's mission but also its importance. It is important because they understand how this music lives in reality. Not as a fossilized imitation of itself but as a living breathing community. They give a wide range of talented artist opportunities to perform not just for the initiated but for everyone. It is of the “Now” and we all have a roll to play. Melanie DyerI gave because I'm deeply grateful for all the music, art, experiences, love, friendships and support that come from this community of artists and friends. Help AFA happen. Steve SwellWhat better way to say thank you to an organization that supports musicians, poets, dancers, visual artists for as long as Arts for Art has the last 25 years. They gave me the opportunity to perform at the Children's Garden on the Lower East Side not long after my throat surgery to help get me back on my feet and performing again. Thank you AFA!! Mark DresserI support Arts for Art because it is an artist run organization who continues to demonstrate the best qualities of community. It isn't about a singular style of music as much as it is a multi-dimensional projection towards equality, inclusion, and humanity. Luke StewartArts for Art is the vital organization that upholds the legacies of the many movements of Free Jazz with respect, reverence, and lots of love. It is the rock that holds together the Community as it continues to thrive under its leadership, nurturing the generations of This Music. I am a proud AFA Artist. Help support the organization that connects the legacies and preserves the community with a donation. Juan Pablo CarlettiArts for Art connects with all the great ideas and efforts to create a community of artists! We need Arts for Art in times like these. They open windows to the artists that work with free expressions and to the people that reaches to them, we need that connection to keep music, dance, and painting alive and awake!! Please consider to make a donation now! I'm very proud to be part of the Arts for Art family! Matt LavelleDuring the height of the Pandemic, Arts for Art kept the music going. I was honored to do 2 online streaming events. One with Warren Smith, Daniel Carter, and Mara Rosenbloom, and then a trio with Larry Roland and Ryan Sawyer. Those 2 events gave me sorely needed music experiences during a time of isolation, major knee surgery, and the loss of my friends Giuseppi Logan and Aaron Martin Jr from Covid. Arts for Art has always been like that, on the front line. I'm honored to be an Arts for Art artist. Dave SewelsonArts For Art has been working hard to keep the music going. They support the community and we support them. They help me do my thing. Dave Kaufman, All About JazzNo organization has done more during these trying times to support and promote creative and improvised music than Arts for Art. The ongoing celebration of peace and social justice through music is just the tonic we need. Mara RosenbloomThere are a lot of "scenes" in New York, and I witnessed this community before I was part of it - but knew immediately, that I wanted to be a part of it. It took time. It took showing up to concerts, showing up to meetings, showing up to folks homes' - and in this time, I learned what COMMUNITY really means. I was a talker on the subject before, but through Arts for Art, I have come to know what it means to make space for others and support them, and how incredible it feels when others support and make space for you in return - the sort of belonging that I think, would heal the world. There are big VISIONS, big dreams, in this community - if you can, lend a hand - help them continue to be realized. Amir BeyArts For Arts/Vision is an artists’ community that transcends international and conceptual borders. Of great benefit to me has been the fellowship that AFA/Vision inspires, and that's true for artists and audiences. Its mission, one that is artistic and social, addresses current circumstances while maintaining historical traditions. During this trying time of the pandemic and societal confusion, AFA/Vision has firmly and consistently supported many artists in various ways. Ongoing Programs
