Graphic Design / Marketing and Events Intern
Arts for Art is seeking a Graphic Design / Marketing and Events intern to design promotional content and assist with social media for our upcoming winter and spring concert series.
Arts for Art is an non-profit presenter of FreeJazz music. We produce a variety of festivals, concert series, and special events year round, highlighting New York’s community of improvising musicians, dancers, poets, and visual artists. The Vision Festival, our flagship event, is the world’s premier showcase for experimental and avant-garde jazz.
We offer a unique opportunity to learn how a small organization does great things. Responsibilities include creating graphics and signage for our programming and fundraising campaigns, with an emphasis on designing for social media. This is a great opportunity to create original content and work closely with a community of creative artists, photographers, and organizers. Designer will have opportunity to propose projects.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Strong digital design and photo manipulation skills. Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator preferred. Video editing skill is a plus.
• Candidates should have knowledge of optimizing design for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
• Attention to detail and organization. Ability to proofread copy for spelling and syntax errors.
• Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
HOURS:
• This internship will require 2 days per first few weeks in person at our administrative offices. Intern can then have option to work remotely per commission.
Hours and days are flexible depending on your schedule.
• May require presence at occasional performance events, including evenings and weekends.
COMPENSATION:
• We will work with the intern's academic institution with the option to receive school credit, although this is not required.
• Intern will receive free access to performances and incredible opportunities to mingle with renowned musicians, visual artists, dancers, and poets.
