I've presented poetry, performance art, acting, academic addresses, talks, and live shows with music in many venues, including colleges and universities throughout New York, the US and the world including Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Dartmouth, MIT, Columbia, the University of Pennsylvania, University of Kwazulu Natal, Pontificia Universidad Católica del Peru, the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, and Université Paris-Diderot.
My most recent poetry collection is Hard Kore: Poemes/Per-Form: Poems of Mythos and Place ( in English and French -- joca seria, 2017 France/2018 US). The second expanded edition of my first creative non-fiction work, Who Do With Words is now out (September 2019). I've been a fellow of Cave Canem, the CPCW Fellow of Creative Writing at the University of Pennsylvania as well as the Millay, Yaddo and MacDowell artist colonies. I have an MFA in poetry from Hunter College, a PhD in Performance Studies from New York University and has studied acting technique at Michael Howard Studios in New York and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London. I've also been a professor for over 20 years at renowned institutions of higher education .
In 2018 I was designated a Master Artist by the Atlantic Center for the Arts, was Visiting Writer at the Vermont Studio Center, and WPR Fellow at Harvard University (2018-2019). After 3 years as the first Distinguished Visiting Professor of Poetry at the Iowa Writers Workshop, I joined the permanent poetry faculty there in Fall, 2020. In 2021 I was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship for poetry.
