Programs
Music Is Mine Improvisation Course
Music is Mine provides students with the opportunity to identify and play different rhythms, to sing chorally, play recorders and keyboards as available, and read music. Students are encouraged to tap into their community’s and their own cultural heritage. It is important that the students feel empowered by music and experience a sense of ownership. While individual musicianship is encouraged, students learn to work in an ensemble, which teaches them skills for interacting with others in real time.
The program will include the opportunity for the students to perform. There will also be provided a master class/performance with world-class artists that demonstrates the application of concepts introduced during the weekly sessions.
We work with the school to monitor the students’ progress in skill and motivation.
Music Is Mine Assembly
Veteran professional musicians will give the young students insight into what being a professional musician is all about: how ensembles work, how to organize and promote performances, and how to distribute recordings. The master class/performances
with world-class guest artists will demonstrate the application of basic musical concepts. Exposure to professional musicians will provide students with an introduction to live music making and creativity that can open their world to creative possibilities.
