It's members bring experience, narrative, activism and social consciousness to the concert stage, taking the art of spoken word fused with jazz to a new level. This current group of musicians and poets come together to share original pieces and pay homage to those who have worked with poetry and jazz improvisation. In keeping with the Vision Festival's theme, Free Jazz For a Just Future, We the Jazz & Poetry Choir Collective celebrate and remember in voice and spirit, the lives of musician Will Connell Jr. and poet Luis Reyes Rivera, two remarkable men who used their art in the practiced fight against injustice every day of their adult lives. We lost them too soon. |
